Is Your Facebook Page Like An Annoying Friend?

Most people know someone who talks nonstop about themselves.

And even if you do get a bit of dialogue going, they typically aren’t really listening to you.

This behavior leads to times when we purposefully avoid them because we just need a break.

Annoying, isn’t it?

The reality is that many Facebook Pages are like that annoying friend because of one-sided communication.

If you are just pushing marketing posts out there, your posts are very likely being ignored by fans and turning off potential fans.

If you’ve been struggling with your Facebook Page, you can turn it around by providing content that generates interaction and discussion. It’s the interaction that gets people interested in you, and even better, gets your fans talking to potential new fans about you.

  1. Ha. That reminded me of the song “I want to talk about me” by Toby Keith. It can definitely be hard to strike a balance between self promotion and providing interesting content for friends, family, and followers.

As a starting point, remember those things that usually annoy you about other Facebook pages as you ponder what you’re going to post. From there, keep an eye on your insights (if you have a business page) to see what people sharing. And finally, participate in webinars like this one. They’re a great way to stay current and learn from people who are in the social media marketing trenches each and every day.

I am frustrated by my FB site. People leave comments and I can’t find some of them. It definitely should not be this difficult. I spend way too much time trying to engage with those who leave notes or comments, only to be frustrated. Sometimes I can see the comments, sometimes not.

A free tool to help you keep track of the activity on your Facebook business page is Nutshell Mail – http://nutshellmail.com/.

It delivers an email to your inbox at a frequency that you chose that includes the likes and comments that have occured on your page. The email is interactive – you can respond to comments right from within the email and it will be posted to your Facebook page.

    Hope that helps!
