How to Participate in a Google Hangout On Air

Google Hangout is a tool that allows you to have a group conversation online. You can send photos, share your screen, and message friends.

You can also turn any Hangout into a live video call, with Google Hangouts On Air.

Since its launch, Google Hangouts On Air has become a popular broadcasting tool for professionals, hobbyist, educators, public figures and even celebrities who want to better connect with their audience and share their ideas and inspiration online.

Why would I want to attend a Google Hangout On Air?

As a small business marketer, Google Hangouts On Air present an exciting new opportunity for you to learn online.

Similar to other forms of online education, like a webinar, you can get the help you need right from the comfort of your own home, office, or place of business. You also get to watch a live discussion and have your questions answered right away.

How can I find a Google Hangout to attend?

Hangouts On Air are happening every day. To give you some idea of the wide range of topics being covered at these live events, visit the Live Hangouts on Air landing page on Google+.

If you find an event that you’re interested in attending, you can click to watch it live. If it’s an upcoming event, you can RSVP and will receive a notification when the event is about to begin.

Can anyone attend a Google Hangout On Air?

Yes, anyone can attend a Google Hangout On Air, but only Google users can post questions or RSVP before the event — this includes people with a Google+ profile or a Gmail address.

What if I don’t have a Google account?

If you don’t already have a Gmail address, and aren’t on Google+ now could be a great time to get started. It’s free to sign up and, if you run a small business, Google offers a number of tools to help your business get discovered online.

Also, if you ever want to host a Hangout for your customers, you will need to have a Google account.

If you’re still not sold on setting up a Google account, a lot of Hangouts offer the chance to submit questions ahead of time, either through email or on other social networks.

How can I ask questions at the event?

Many Hangouts on Air use the Google Hangout Q&A app that makes it easy for attendees to submit a question, and also gives the moderator the ability to highlight questions that are being answered.

If the Q&A app is being used, the questions will appear on the right side of the screen which is where you can submit your questions as well. Simply click “Ask a new question” and the moderator will see it.

Note: If you don’t have a Google account, you will not see the Q&A.
