How much time do you have to spare?
If you’re like most people on the Internet, the answer is probably a resounding “not much.”
The same goes for your potential email subscribers. So, when it comes to growing your email list, you’ll want to make the process as quick and painless as possible. The easier you make it for people to sign up, the easier it is to grow your list.
That’s why we’re proud to announce Constant Contact’s new integration with Formstack.
Now, you can create embeddable sign-up forms that allow people to enter their information right on the webpage they’re visiting, without going to a different page to sign up.
With this new integration, you can also customize the fields on your sign-up form and create different forms for different email lists.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Go to “Grow My Contacts” in your Constant Contact dashboard.

Once you’re under this menu, you’ll see the button to create a form through Formstack.
2. Grant access.

To integrate Formstack into your Constant Contact account, you’ll have to grant access to the application.
3. Create your custom confirmation message and select the list to add contacts.

The confirmation message is what contacts will see once they’ve signed up for the list.
4. Customize your form.
There are a lot of different fields you can choose from—just remember not to ask for too much information or you risk scaring subscribers away.
5. Create a Formstack account and copy the embed code.

To finish your form, you’ll have to provide your email address and phone number to create a Formstack account. After that, just copy the code and you’ll be good to go!
6. Embed.

Paste the code wherever you edit HTML on your website, then just click publish, and you’re all set.
Note: These forms won’t automatically work on websites hosted by WordPress.com. If you’re unsure of how to embed the HTML on your website, be sure to ask whoever manages the site itself.

Oh wow! That is totally cool!
This is a great feature and integration! Imagine it with 3rd party email validation baked in!
What is the cost?
Hi Lesley, a free version of Formstack is available for all Constant Contact users!
So far I’m not impressed. I just want a way to embed html code to my WordPress site for the form with no html formatting or advertising. As far, cannot see how this is possible. Disappointed.
Hi Andrea,
I’m asking around to see if there are any options that allow you to do that -stay tuned!
Is there a way to embed the full code and not the java code?
HI Gretchen,
Unfortunately at this time we can’t give any other pieces of code from the Constant Contact end. I would suggest logging directly into Formstack.com, they offer additional publishing options. I’m happy to pass along your ideas!
We are also not pleased with the resulting form – it is enormous, and does not include a header to tell people what the form is for (e.g., sign up for our free newsletter.). Is there any way to tweak the layout?
Hi Helen,
I apologize for any trouble. Have you considered using Constant Contact’s JMML form instead? This form is a set size and includes customization headers and description boxes. I’ve written a post in the Community comparing the two if you would like to take a look: http://community.constantcontact.com/t5/Managing-Contacts/Comparing-Contact-Signup-Form-Options/td-p/68779
As far as the Formstack form, there is not a way to tweak the layout at this time. If you are familiar with code you can try containing the form in a smaller table to reduce the size but this is something that would need to be unique to your website.
I’m granting access to the product through Constant Contact and it just returns to the Grant Access Page. No form building options.
Hi Tony,
Sorry to hear this! You do have to click “Grant Access” Twice. The first time would be on the initial overlay screen in Constant Contact and the second would be after you enter your login information. Can you try a different browser or clearing your cache as a test?
an ugly form. Can’t customize it without giving formstack $$$ monthly.
Hi Andrea,
Have you considered using Constant Contact’s JMML form? We do not include a logo of any sort on the form. If you are looking for complete customization and are familair with HTML I would suggest using Constant Contact’s API to create your own signup form. You would have full flexability in the custom version. I have compared JMML options further in a recent post in the Community if you would like to take a look: http://community.constantcontact.com/t5/Managing-Contacts/Comparing-Contact-Signup-Form-Options/td-p/68779
What about customization?
Ah I saw: I can use Constant Contacts API to create a custom signup form, but that requires some html understanding, of which I only have a basic idea.
I am very frustrated with Formstack. I just found out that the confirmation message that I wanted to say “Thanks for Subscribing” is not what my subscribers are receiving and I cannot edit or alter the message in Formstack. This is VERY frustrating and now I have a VERY angry client.
This is fantastic. Thank you so much! I was just about to write something like these. Suggest to everyone. And
How much ? and Where can I download it.
